Telecommunication Specialist 2

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing installation and maintenance of telecommunications hardware and software.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install new or modified hardware, software, or programming modules of telecommunications system
  • Routine administration of telephone and telecommunications systems operation
  • Communicate with telecommunications vendors to facilitate problem reporting and resolution
  • Work with Information Technology personnel and facilities management staff to install, remove or relocate user connectivity equipment and devices
  • Document procedures for hardware and software installation and use
  • Document technical specifications and operating standards for telecommunications equipment
  • Document user support activity, such as system problems, correction actions, resolution status and completed equipment installations
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology

 

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities: None

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, configuration, or processing information
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Skilled in time management
  • Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
  • Skilled in operating power tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems

 

Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND
  • Five years related work experience OR
  • Associate’s Degree AND
  • Three years work related experience
  • Directly related work experience may substitute for education
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period
  • This position may be required to work more than 40 hours per week
