$69,120 annual minimum starting pay*

Qualifications may warrant greater starting pay within the full pay range. Individual pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for applying established engineering techniques to develop specifications for distribution and transmission materials and construction practices under the direction of a professional engineer.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Act with highest integrity during interactions with Cooperative staff, contractors, and equipment suppliers
  • Work collaboratively with the Districts to modify construction specifications as needed and to provide engineering support for district distribution construction and operation
  • Prepare construction and material specifications and associated drawings for construction assembly units
  • Review and evaluate design and test data
  • Research technical specifications
  • Study technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
  • Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems and topographical maps to become familiar with standards and customer requirements
  • Operate computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment
  • Confer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
  • Review construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment under the direction of a professional engineer
  • Perform detailed calculations to define and establish manufacturing, construction and 

    installation standards and specifications under the direction of a professional engineer

  • Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem and recommend remedial measures
  • Conduct engineering analysis of distribution system component failures, material standards, construction standards, transmission and substation equipment standards
  • Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to construction specifications
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, configuration, or processing information
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Knowledge of technical presentations and reporting
  • Knowledge of construction materials and products
  • Skilled in time management
  • Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems

 

Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by the Cooperative

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period
